Well not exactly non-stop back to back as it took me 2 days to accomplish the feat but I have a few comments if anyone cares to listen. It may be hard to believe but I was alive and functioning back when those two concerts happened and I admit that I did not attend either one like the 15 million people who claim to have attended Woodstock but I did make tie dyed shirts in my bathtub. That is kind of like the 10 million men who claim to have been Navy Seals but that is another story for another time.

I love both movies. Monterey Pop is, in my opinion, the movie that started it all and is the prototype of Woodstock and all concert movies that followed. I would even call Woodstock a remake of Monterey Pop with some different performers but there are major difference in the two films. Monterey Pop is raw, unrefined and all about the music while Woodstock is also about the music but is a much more refined movie with it's fancy refined filming techniques. What made the difference for me is that Country Joe McDonald did not sing in Monterey Pop while he did sing in Woodstock. Country Joe has one of the greatest folk rock voices in the histroy of music in my opinion.

Which movie do you prefer if you are old enought to watch them? This article is only about these two films but if you mention another concert film I most likely won't delete your comment as long as you discuss these two films.

Ditto cajun Woodstock. Merle I did vote. Some of the classics that will live out the ages were performed at Woodstock. IMO

While I acknowledge whippersnappers opinions I do not think they are worth much when talking about the Good Old Days no offense intended.

            You also forgot to vote.

I like Monterey Pop. Woodstock is a little too Scorsese. Not that I don't like him, but there are so many camera tricks and such. Plus, where else can you see Janis Joplin at her best like that?

P.S. I voted. Where's my sticker? I left the kids in the car and they'll want one.

Woodstock is a little too Scorsese with the camera tricks while Montery Pop had a grittier look.

                  Oh, Woodstock I suppose.

Grace Slick from the Jefferson Airplane apologized (many years later) for showing up to Woodstock bombed out of her skull. Blame it on the LSD and the alcohol she consumed before the show. Usually, she was very precise in her live performances. Although she did well anyway, you can sort of tell something was just a bit wrong with her. (laughs)

I voted yesterday but did not comment until now. My big problem is that I may have watched the Monterey Pop video a long time ago but I don't remember it. Now, because I can't access YouTube the only thing I can see from it is a song by Simon and Garfunkel. However, Woodstock stands out more in my memory, possibly because to me the most striking thing I can recall is Jimmi Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner.

Monterey Pop was Jimi's "breakthrough" performance as he set his guitar on fire and smashed it to smithereens. He is perhaps my favorite musician of all time.

By the way have you got your Newsvine earnings for June yet? It seemed like they changed the schedule again.

Hendrix wasn't my favourite musician, but he sure as hell was everyone's choice as the greatest electric guitarist of all time, beating out Carlos Santana and Eric Clapton. Country Joe and the Fish were mentioned above. I really loved listening to his music back in my hippie days, especially I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die, an absolutely great anti-war song.

No, Merle, no June distribution. I was amazed, when I just checked, to see that I earned $7.35 in April. That's the most I've ever earned on NV.
