Why delay something that is going to happen anyway? The Republicans are showing their true colors and that seems to be more important to them than getting with the program.

And Scummocrats dont know how to write one in sync with the Constitution. iI's their ( Repubicans)privilege to investigate someone who may hand this country over to terrorists.if youwant to talk about reading---try reading the Constitution that you revisionist Liberals always quote.

Their 'priviledge' is based on the rules of order and procedure adopted by the Senate, it is NOT part of the Constitution lucy, which you would know if you had actually graduated from the first grade.

To all Military units in the U.S. who have sworn allegiance to our cause-

The real world is no world though without

our knowing it may well be. We can't

see anything about it: how it is

or why, what way it may be, but it is there.

If you meet resistance, arrest those officers, if they fire return fire.

        To all U.S. Carrier personnel-

There is a real world which does make sense.

It is beyond our knowing or speaking but it is there.

Move into position designated and arrest anyone who resists. Then move your carrier's to assigned positions

To U.S. forces abroad in Iraq and Afghanistan that have sworn allegiance to us-

These poems that, once, I thought might be

support and comfort to me, come bad times,

are now an emptiness. I need to know that all their strength is only as a strength

        fills them, some strong life."

Move your forces to staging areas to be airlifted out If you meet resistance, defend yourself. Your sacrifice for something in vain is over.

        To Troops in Europe-

One makes a poem as little as one makes

the weather. One goes to the window and looks out

and sees it there, outside. Read!

We all go out into it if we dare.

Do not move until the hour you were given.

Finally, we want former President Bush and vice-President Cheney arrested and taken alive to stand trial for Treason.

To all Americans- The hour has come and you can join if you wish. If not, Stay inside and no civilians will be hurt.

The sword of peace has given way to the sword of Civil War

As a former Army interrogator I want EVERY SINGLE SOB who used torture to be prosecuted and jailed for their crimes, and lucy, don't tempt me, because I always thought that we should have taken care of your kind in 1865, thru trail and execution and mass deportation, and then turned the south over to the former slaves.

Indeed1  Right on, Merle.  Give me a break!! After Gonzalas , you would question anyone about their judgment on whether to prosecute possible criminal violations if honest government demands it. This is the kind of b--s the Bush administration has been guilty of for most of the past 8 years, that is, to circumvent the constitution and the Geneva Convention accords. Sounds like some of the "honerable" Republican senators want to stick their thumbs in the eyes of the new President just because "the rules" permit this delay.

What could happen here would make Northern ireland look like a child'sbirthday party Keep pushing your vendetta ----you morons. It would be nice to take a few of you out.

Lucy, your`kind was beaten by my ancestors in 1865, when they kicked your ancestors asses from one end of the south to the other.  And I would look forward to finishing the job this time.

Let's postpone until we can think up additional reasons why Holder's acquiesence on the Mark Rich pardon is nothing more than any other Attorney General would do.

Obstructionist for no other reason than to obstruct.  They waited one day to confirm Hillary Clinton just to embarrass and humiliate her.  They must have put cotton in their ears yesterday when President Obama called for all of us, including the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, to put away childish things.  Accountability starts with Congress, and I would get the names of those who are continuing to play petty politics.  They are the ones who should be voted out.

Delay for what. The same old political games continues while the country burns. These Republicans don't care about this country.

President Obama needs to understand these are ones who still has a closed fist and they will never support his initiatives.

When are you Scummocrats going to learn that not all people worship at the shrine of King Barack I. Some people in this country are actually capable of thinking for themselves, not being lead by the mindless idiots of the left wing Communist press---it's called freedom. Just may be a new word for you eternally led.

What qualifies Leahy to be in charge of this committee? Especially a Vermonter whose half the populace is either from Canada or France, but that probably explains Leahy...

Just because Leahy was under orders to "slam dunk" the nomination should tell you something...... Maybe like that rat from Arizona there could be something in the closet waiting to get out.... But then again the man is a Lawyer aka Bottom Feeder so I have no doubt there is something...... So why the rush....

Funny have the Demoncrats are now saying following up on their motto, "Deny everything and make Counter Accusations" that the Republicans don't care about America..

When it was the Demoncrats who got everything into this mess in the first place going back to the Yellow Backed Bill Clinton who killed more than 25,000 American troops while he fiddled around in the White House, ignoring the works of Obama Ben Laden....or the fact his administration was behind the setting up of the current financial mess and guess who has been appointed to run the economy that they destroyed,   The Same Clinton Clowns....

Then there is ENSLAVING  the Americian Taxpayer to the Public Employee Unions... Unions are not American, they are Communist Product used to take over the Government and Enslave the people of Russia..... Unions are not a healthy organization, they are Poison for true Americans.... They are against worker freedom and free thinking,, they are greedy and only want your money to support them in the lifestyle they have become accustomed too and the Demoncrats work hand in hand with the Unions to ENSLAVE the Taxpayer.....

So who is really anti-american.... All the proof points to the Demoncrats and exonerates the Republicans who are the true Americans....

jruss is right in this case--The post can be approved by a simple majority, which the Democrats have, so the delay is pointless except to delay Holder getting started.

Obviously the process will take its course.  What's the point of taking longer?  Republicans could have sowed some good will by not dragging out the confirmation process, but they decided not to do so.

My statement didn't come out of the article, which apparently you didn't read too carefully.

Do you know something about Holder that will change Democrat's minds about him?  Because if not, this is just slow-walking a slam-dunk.  Simple majority, my friend, will make Holder AG.

Yes the rules are being followed.  That's perfectly correct.  As it should be.

Is there a point to the delay?  In my opinion, no.  In yours, yes.

                              That's all I'm saying.

Republicans, and I mean all Republicans, are the most dangerous group of people in these United State of America.  Let them tell it, if a democrat supports anything that gives government money to people at the bottom it is socialism; if reuplicans give to the rich it is capitalism. If democrats lower taxes on the lower half of the population it is redistribution; if republican give it the wealthy it is trickle down. If a democrat associates with anyone who is not pure, the democrat pals around with terrorist. If a republican lives in a state where laws restrict the freedom of a race of people, bans a group and a race of people from owning property, if churches of the minority are bombed and people get killed, or if one of their mighty police commits crimes against the minority they can turn a blind eye and witnesses can keep silence- it all serves the Lord's purpose of keeping one group in power and these hypocrites have moral values.

Then of course we have these unintelligent senators and congressmen from the Southern states who argue that the union workers must reduce their wages to fall in line with those wages at auto plants in southern states. Unfortunately, the northern states are represented by cowards who do not demand that all southern property values be raised to match property values in northen states. When the workers from the south realize that a 4-bedroom house now cost one and one-half times its original value we will see if those workers will be able to pay their mortgages on the same wages they are making now. It seems being a republican make people selfish and sel-absorbed. There is no humanity left in any of them. Absolute foolishness reign supreme with them.

Wow!  Talk about protectionism.  This is an attempt to abort any investigation into criminal activities by the former administration--not getting promises to avoid a witch hunt but to abort inquiry into ''alleged'' events--like MSM admissions by Bush and Cheney of torture, eavesdropping, etc.  Would that Newt Gingrich and Ken Starr had been as circumspect as the GOP is now.  It's obvious it depends on whose rump one is trying to protect.

While I don't want a return of the 'Starr Chamber' and years of inquiry to find wrong-doing, any wrong doing by any former or current administration, I would like investigation and prosecution if warranted of crimes committed by our government officials.  So the GOP will drag out Eric Holder's yet probably permit Geithner's  confirmation even if he can't or won't fill out his 1040 correctly (which makes me wonder if he can do the more complex job of Secretary of the Treasury).  It's and interesting choice of ethical dilemmas for the GOP--allow the appointment of a who's the 'only one who can untangle the financial screw up in this country' but who can't or won't fill out his own 1040 correctly yet delay the appointment of a man who is capable of investigating malfeasance of a party member.  Speaks volumes for Republican politics.

This guy, along with Greg Craig and Tim Geithner shouldn't be in anyone's administration.  If "The One" starts out with corrupt people, things can only get worse in time.

It is said that a habit is like a reputation, easy to acquire and hard to get rid of. And it is also said that you can differentiate between a negative emotion that is unhealthy and one that is healthty> And I believe unhealthy emotions contributed to the putting off of Mr. Holder's confirmatioin for a week.  To me, an unhealthy emotion: > Stems from an irrational belief. >Leads to unconstructive behavior. >Interferes with constructive attempts to change the negagtive situation if it can be changed. > Interferes with the constructive adjustment if the negative situation cannot be changed. > Leads to distorted thinking. > Interferes with problem solving. > Intereferes with goal achievement .  There are also unhealthy negative emotions also like:  Anxiety > Depression > Guilt >Shame > Hurt > Unhealthy anger > Unhealthy jealousy.  Again, all of which I feel greatly contributed to what Mr. Holder is being put through, under the veil of Sentate proceedure to be confirmed at the next and first Black Attorney General. It's bad enough that Obama is the Commander and Chief, which they could not procedurally play with; but Holder is another story.

Obama should have his choice like Bush did, why should the repuks try to get in the way when they let bush have his???, morons. If the repuks keep getting into the way, well there will be another vote in 2 years, or less.

                                                    Sort of ashamed

You have to consider the source of this obstruction; John Cornyn is another Rove-trained Texas right-wingnut.
He used his office as Texas A.G in much the same way Gonzales did to partisan purposes and for personal ambition. Ron Kirk, Obama's trade appointee, ran against him in 2002 for the Senate seat and Rove's goon machine smeared him with abandon. These guys don't know any other way to operate; sadly, the Texas Democratic Party is pretty much disfunctional, so there's been no check on their sadistic abuse of power. Obama's Primary success here (yes, he did win the majority of delegates from Texas, although the state machine worked against him on behalf of Hillary, and then waited to the end to publish the results, after the media had reported it wrong) actually gives hope that the organization he left behind will prove capable of gaining some important seats in the near future. The very right-wing, tyrannical Speaker of the Texas House actually was ousted and has been replaced by someone considered "moderate." And not mean. The arrogance of the Texas Republican Party is causing a split in its own ranks and that may, ultimately, be what it takes to open the window of opportunity for some 2-party development. But, back to Cornyn. He is not all that bright, but very, very sneaky. And the mood of the state has rewarded him for it. However, my thought is that he's on his way out. Help him along, please.

This is all peanuts compared to the NSA officer on MSNBC last night that said he was asked to spy on American journalists 24-7. This will be bigger then Watergate. The Repubs are asking the future AG of the United States if he will refuse to prosecute people that broke the law. They are going to get their @ss handed to them and this will be fun to watch. I planed to exit this board but this will be too much fun.

Lucy: you consented to give Bush powers that can now be used to squash your little war in the streets party like a bug. Remember this administration knows how to run a computer and can find you with powers that Bush left for them to use. You had better remember that when you talk about taking a few people out!

His appointment should be delayed for at least 4 years!!!

Wow, such logic is underwhelming. Certainly this sort of partisanship will restore our greatness! It really is time to get back to civility and reason and grace.
