If I wasn't watching an important football game I would be watching the concert.

I feel cheated...tuned in to watch the concert....and then only learned the music was being shown on HBO....so much for this being a "peoples event"....just those who have the premium subscription!!!!

I want to believe that this will be a different approach....but feel like is more of the same Democratic Hollywood!

Thanks HBO for behaving like a typical corporation making our national concert....all about money....I am very disapointed that our new President allowed so many to be shut out.

Uhhh who cares?  I think they kind of ruin things.  Wasn't Obama's campaign all about the little guy who isn't in the limelight?  If so, then what are all these celebrities doing in Washington having so much say still?

I think this is a wonderful event and concert...I didn't hear all this nonsense when Bush took office 4 years ago and there was plenty of parties. It is not the Democratic show...this is a HISTORICAL event in American history and all parties need to acknowledge it whether you like President-Elect Obama or not!!!!!!.

Good for you you think that it's wonderful houstongirl.  Either side, I happen to think it is disgusting and obnoxious.  Doesn't matter who the celebs are for and what agendas they promote, it is all self serving.

houstongirl on January 21st, unemployment will still be at almost 8 percent, and nothing that Bruce Springsteen, U2 or Garth Brooks are doing is going to remedy that, all it's doing is allowing them to have their names in history.  They are doing nothing for anybody but themselves.

I hear some compalin about the bill. We spent way too much for the Bush party and I remember the bill being HUGE. So to those who feel that too much is going to be spent I thought the same 4 years ago and no matter how much I complained Bush was still in office the next day.

There's no one left to watch in football...this is one heck of a concert. Let's celebrate. I feel like it is the morning of my life...it is the dawn of a new day in our country. We should celebrate! Bye, W!

I celebrate every morning that I wake up.  I know that it's going to be a great day,  because each day is what you make it. It sure not because we have a new @sshole in Washington.  There are already to many there and the place smells like  S  H  I  T. None of them are going to make my life any better. It's up to me. I don't need their hand outs.

SecretagentLee, I KNOW just how you feel. I sit here in Mississippi, knowing the history of my state, and I am crying because so many beautiful and wonderful things are going on in Washington. I wish I could be there, but unfortunately because of the financial situation I have now (yeah, Bush), I can't attend a wonderful new beginning. And Anne, I can't help it.  I am a 60 years old, white woman who feels like I did when Kennedy got elected, hopeful. I just hope it doesn't end badly or I might become a 60 year old militant!  But I am excited and feel like a kid again all because of this young man, and his energetic family. I know he has a tough time ahead of him, but if all of us pray, maybe he can pull it off.

We have also brought this wrath upong ourselves by our greed and our pride...........

The only thing that can save our Country is prayer..."If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sins and Heal their land.".........
Instead of partying I suggest we all get on our knees...........

excuse me, anne-619140, I never said he was "the one." I believe those are your words. You guys are really good at putting words like that in our mouths. Read what I say and don't take it out of context and add your words to it.  I was just making a comment about the celebrations that are beginning. I am happy to have a new president coming into office. After the last four years, this is like a new morning. I understand that you all are mad because your guy lost, but you don't have to rain on our parade. Go pout in the corner and leave us alone.

Because of stupid comments like that, Secretagent, is why our country is becoming divided.  We aren't pouting because our guy lost. We are only keeping our eyes open and know that this man isn't going to bring miracles for our country.  And who cares what stars go to support this...are they paying my bills?  Are they supporting my family?

I am going to disagree, Beth. The "Stupid" coments are those posted saying that we think Obama is "The one" or the "second coming of Christ." I was just commenting on the fact that we should be allowed to celebrate without people twisting and distorting our words.I know Obama won't be able to bring miracles. I am a pragmatic person. It will take time to undo what has been done in the last eight years.  I doubt anyone is supporting your family but you.

notably absent from Garth Brooks' song, "We Shall Be Free" was the following verse:

When we're free to love anyone we choose
When this worlds big enough for all different views
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew

Not all that impressive, seeing the very Liberal musicians, what would one expect, at such a liberal inguration. I imagine most of Hollywood will be in attendance too. ThoughI am sure the millions or more babies that will probably be aborted after he gets in won't.

The man has much say before conception but often refuses responsibility for contraception. Afterwards yes indeed they have no say as it should be.

Of course the father should have an opinion but that is where it stops...........what a woman does with her own body is her choice........and I bet if men could become pregnant there would never be a threat to abortion rights.

For a guy, that is a bogus statement to make about it being the guy's responsibility "if he refuses contraception".  How naive can you be?

It is not a myth that condoms break and leak, while women forget to take their pill or outright lie about being on the pill.  If a woman can decide to kill her baby despite protests from the father, why then can't men demand that the baby be aborted if they don't want it?  Conversely, why can't fathers require women to have their baby if they want the child, even if the mother doesn't?

That, my friend, is a DOUBLE STANDARD!

BTW:  It might be wise for abortion supporters to remember this fact: You were a "fetus" at one time, too.  What if your mother had aborted you along with the tens of millions of other babies?

Why was Gene Robinson not there? He was supposed to give the invocation at this event.

How about inviting a gay bishop to participate and then make sure not to shpw him on tv? That will really help appease all those upset by the Warren invitation.

Another gay rights mis-step by the Obama team.

Stop crying and complaining.  You got your "pro gay guy" in office anyway.  Besides, gays are NOT entitled to any more rights than anyone else.  Unfortunately, the gay agenda is seeking rights above and beyond basic civil rights!

I understand that Obama has had a homosexual bring an invocation.  God will not bless a nation or a president that allows such.  Whether people like it or not, homosexuality is a sin.  The Bible says that whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.  I am afraid our president doesn't have a clue about what is right or wrong only what is convenient for him at that moment.

Millions of us feel the same way you do. Obama had $700 million to spend, the media in his pocket (like you see all over the news today) and the sheep that will follow who Hollywood and pop culture tells them to. We had all the odds against us. Well, it took Jimmy Carter to get us Regan.

I agree, but the Libs don't get it, so save your breath.  Liberals love the part of the Bible that talks about "loving thy neighbor", but conveniently forget about the laws and Ten Commandments.  This country is doomed regardless of the party in power or sexual orientation of the bishop.  Guys like "john123456789" wouldn't know how to translate a verse of Scripture if it hit him on the head.  "Oh, your judgmental".  Wow, how insightful!  Unfortunately for the human race, the Bible has all sorts of judgments if people don't shape up and continue to diss God and his Word.  The homosexual agenda is an abomination, despite the fact that the mass media keeps shoving that politically correct agenda down the publics collective throat.

If I were you, naysayers, I would watch your tone and tongue while mocking God...you will have hell to pay if His followers are right...

You are correct. I've never heard anyone in the Bush Administration (or in the right wing media) bearing false witness or taking the Lord's name in vain. President Bush has always been 100% truthful with the American people and has been completely ethical in all the companies he has run. Heck, nobody in the Republican party has ever even committed adultery. Those are just vicious rumors spread by the liberal media.

That sounds like a bunch of propaganda from the time that the unions were actually strong!  Bush is no better or worse than Slick Willy, Ted Kennedy, or Jimmy Carter.

Democrats are "for the people", and Republicans not?  If that were true, Democrats would control spending and stop illegal immigration.  Yet there are as many corrupt Democrats as Republicans!  Most of the liberal judges who overturn the "will of the people" are Democrats.  Pass the Kool-Aid!

I do hope that the media will move away from "the first black president".

Number one: He is not black, he is of mixed race so I guess either side can make a claim

Number two: He should be identified as American, I am not sure why or where all the hyphenated groups originated

Number three: It is hoped that the next administration, with BO as president, will be slightly more cognisant of the needs of the American people relative to employment

Number four: I have not watched the concert but where does Bono fit into the picture. He continues to harass governments, especially western governments, to sponsor more and more self serving corrupt officials in Africa. I assume the publicity sells records, CD's, etc.

I'm sick of Bono and his policy to have a new pair of designer shades every time he performs.  He spends more on his shades than the average African makes in a year!

Many bloggers here are telling the GOP faithful not to bag on Obama over the cost of his inauguration.  But let's be serious here:  Bush did not recruit a bunch of Hollywood celebrities and conduct a concert in front of the Lincoln Memorial, either.  Barry spent more than 3 TIMES what Bush spent on his "coming out" party.  Yet he had the audacity to throw this party with record deficits, sky high unemployment, and the worst real estate market since the Great Depression.  The connection that Obama is trying to make with Lincoln is enough to make me sick.  The guy hasn't done a damn thing yet, and he is probably getting reading to pose for the picture that will be used on a new U.S. bill!

Obama is NOT Lincoln, FDR, or a savior/messiah!

I am so glad this could only be viewed on HBO - if someone "Obama" couldn't pick anyone any better than these entertainers - it shows how poorly he picked people for his cabinet - they don't pay taxes, they have campaign finance problems, they make sure major criminals get pardons - boy are we in for a good time this next 4 years.

It seems that a 150 million inaugural party , a 700 million campaign by Obama and and the millions that Mccain spent is all alittle out of touch with the ordinary man or woman. We spend all this money on these events, and then want the taxpayer to finance a bailout to filthy rich banks and car companies which will take generations to pay off. I want the best for our country, but I don't see a united desire or the willingness to sacrifice  to achieve it, however I still hope for a change and still have faith it can happen.
